Fr. Michael Newman, O.S.F.S., Pastor

Fr. Mike is a priest with the congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. Born in Toledo, OH, Fr. Mike attended St. Francis de Sales School and DeSales University (Center Valley, PA) where he majored in Spanish and was certified as a K-12 teacher. Following graduation, he entered the Oblates in 2003 and moved to Toronto and studied theology at the University of St. Michael’s College where, in 2009, he earned a Master of Divinity degree and was ordained a priest.

Following ordination, Fr. Mike served as a Spanish and theology teacher at St. Francis de Sales School in Toledo from 2009-2011. In 2011 he became a member of the Leadership Team of the Toledo-Detroit Province of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and continues to serve the Oblates as a member of this team to this day. In 2012 he entered formation ministry for the Oblates and currently serves as the Vocation Director of the Toledo-Detroit Province and the Novice Director of the North American Provinces of the Oblates. In 2018 he earned a Doctorate in Ministry from the Catholic University of America (Washington, DC) in the area of adult spirituality and vocational discernment and has given numerous retreats and parish missions throughout the United States about the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales (known as Salesian spirituality.)

Fr. Mike has been a part of the Adrian Catholic community since 2007 when he was assigned to then St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish to work in Hispanic and migrant ministry. Following ordination in 2009, he returned to Holy Family each weekend to celebrate the 11:45am bilingual Mass and, in 2016 returned to Adrian to live in residence while finishing his doctoral dissertation. He is very excited to return now to Holy Family as pastor and is happy to be “loving life and living Jesus” once more here with everyone in Adrian.

Deacon Leonard Brown

Deacon Len and his wife Terri have been members of the parish since 1988.

They have three adult sons and three grandchildren. He is retired from ITC Holdings, an electric transmission company, after 34 years in the utility industry.

Dcn. Len graduated from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies in 2007. He was ordained to Permanent Diaconate on May 21, 2011, for the Diocese of Lansing.

Deacon John Crowley

Deacon John is the father of three children, and step-father of six children, all of whom are now adults. His wife, Kathy, and him have 27 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for 40 years before he retired.

Since being ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2015, Dcn. John’s ministries at the parish include accompanying people looking to join the Church through RCIA and assisting at our parish liturgies, both on Sundays and at daily Masses. His hobbies include tinkering around in the garage, shooting, and solving the world’s problems with his wife over a cup of coffee or a glass of homemade wine.

Patience Vrieze-See, Parish Administrator

Patience Vrieze-See was born in Iowa, but has lived all over the Midwestern and Eastern United States.

She is a graduate of Siena Heights University, with a BA in Public Administration, with a focus on Public Policies and Procedures, and Research. She extends her pastoral service by participating in various church activities at Holy Family and working with Restore Haiti mission trips.

Patience is married to Kenny See and is a mom to Andrew See, and his wife Shauna, as well as Marycelia Villegas, and her husband Stevie. She also loves being a grandmother. Also, compassion is shown by Patience to many four-legged animals, personal, fostered or orphaned, or just visiting.

Katie Love, Director of Faith Formation

Katie’s family roots run deep in Lenawee County. Although she doesn’t have any biological children, Katie has been blessed with many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and confirmed youth that she has sponsored. Through her work with the Americorps and other volunteer opportunities, she has traveled around much of the United States.

Her free time consists of working on her certification for youth ministry and activities as an associate of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. She greatly enjoys her ministry with the youth of Holy Family, especially how she is continually learning from them and is able to watch them continue to grow in their faith. The highlight of her year is watching the youth receive their first Reconciliations, first Communions, and the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Rocio Vazquez, Office Manager

Rocio Vazquez was born in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico. She has been a member of the parish since 1990 and is bilingual English/Spanish.

Rocio and her husband Felipe have been married for many years and they have three daughters: Fabiola (Alfredo), Ariana and Lily. They also love being grandparents to their grandchildren.

Rocio has worked at the parish as Office Coordinator since 2007 and she is involved in many ministries within the parish; she is a lector, commentator, member of the Guadalupe Society, Eucharistic Minister, member of the choir, and is very involved with the Cursillo movement.

Rocio loves to work around people and helping others. She is also a Public Notary in Lenawee County.

Kurt Weber, Liturgy and Music Coordinator

Kurt Weber, the Liturgy Coordinator and Music Director, is a Vermont native.

He began working for Holy Family Parish in July 2002. Kurt has been doing pastoral music work since 1985. He composes original music and arrangements and has directed choirs of all sizes.

As the liturgy coordinator, he enjoys the team effort needed to prepare large Masses and other celebrations. During his time in Adrian, he has developed an affinity for Spanish music and now co-directs the weekly bilingual Mass. He plays piano, organ, and saxophone…

You will also see Kurt’s wife, Nancy, assisting him as cantor and organist.

Leslie Love, Administrative Asst.

Leslie has been a life long member of the Catholic Community of Adrian. She holds a Bachelors degree from Central Michigan University. In her free time she loves spending time with family, friends, gardening and traveling. She and her husband have two children and two dachshunds that keep them very busy!
